The Academy offers up-to-date education and training, in particular for healthcare professionals in and outside the Princess Máxima Center. This mainly concerns nurses, nursing specialists, paramedics and medical specialists, whether or not in training. Training for researchers and other employees are also offered on a regular basis. We try and customize as much as possible and focus on the continued development of the professionals. This means that we can raise the level of knowledge and expertise every year. Developments in pediatric oncology are monitored closely and are immediately translated into education and training for all target groups.
State of the art teaching and training
We follow current teaching developments and benchmark with the best educators. Each person has a different learning style; that is to say that we make use of each other's expertise and have an informal learning approach with each other on the ground. The hands-on teaching consists of various forms of work to ensure optimal challenge. This pillar is mainly aimed at our own employees, but various training courses are also open to healthcare professionals from outside the Máxima.
National and international sharing of knowledge
Nationwide, there are programs for hbo-level students and universities, for junior pediatricians and for pediatricians and nurses in shared care hospitals. We offer additional training and follow-on training for professionals in pediatric oncology. GPs and pediatricians from other hospitals are also regularly included in our training. Internationally, we have the Masters Course in Pediatric Oncology, for national and international fellows. We are going to develop a top European English-language program for pediatric oncology nurses. And finally, there are many conferences for national and international professionals in pediatric oncology, active in care and/or research.
