We offer internships within the basic Medicine program. There are places for elective cohorts of at least 8 weeks and semi-doctoral internships between 3 and 6 months at the Princess Máxima Centre.

We offer these places within the following units:

• Neuro-oncology
• Solid tumours
• Haemato-oncology
• Stem cell transplantation unit
• LATER

There is also the possibility to do an optional internship at the department of surgery of the Princess Máxima Centre. During this fellowship, you will become acquainted with the surgical aspects of paediatric oncological care (for neuro-oncological, solid and haemato-oncological patients alike) and also spend a lot of time in the operating theatres attending and assisting with operations.

During your internship, you will take note of working in a clinical and multidisciplinary team, developmental care and complex patient care. A training plan can be tailored with your Máxima trainer. Important conditions to qualify for a internship are:

• you can do an internship of at least 8 weeks;
• you have done a internship in paediatrics before;
• optional internships of 6 weeks are also possible, under the condition that you have experience from an oncology field or internship.

As an AIOS pediatrician, you are more than welcome to do your pediatric oncology profiling internship in our center. In consultation with your trainer, we are also happy to welcome you for your in-depth training of 3 months. You will gain extensive experience of the many aspects of pediatric oncology care and general pediatric supportive care for children with cancer. You will function as an AIOS under the supervision of the pediatric oncologists. You will participate in educational activities of the Princess Máxima Center and the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital. The Princess Máxima Center has a cooperation agreement with the Utrecht University Medical Center (UMC) and is therefore a recognized training institution. A personalized training plan can be arranged together with your trainer at the Máxima. As an AIOS, you see yourself in our core values of being groundbreaking and passionate. For a fellowship, we offer training as a pediatric oncologist in accordance with the requirements of the NVK [Dutch Association for Pediatrics] in a good training climate within an enthusiastic, active group of pediatric oncologists. The activities you perform are regulated by and are performed entirely in accordance with the training requirements. As a pediatric oncology fellow at the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology, you will gain extensive experience with and will address many aspects of pediatric oncology disorders. You will function independently under the supervision of the pediatric oncologists. You will also take part in educational activities and you will have the opportunity to carry out scientific research. You can find current training places under vacancies.
