Talent program at the Princess Máxima Center

The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology is a Dutch, European and worldwide center of expertise for pediatric oncology. Filled with boundless ambition, to cure each child with cancer, with optimal quality of life. Consequently, outstanding care, research and training, provided by top-level medical professionals, banded together under the umbrella of the Máxima, is crucial.

A special and highly ambitious talent development program has been set up for this purpose. The Princess Máxima Center is Europe’s largest childhood cancer center and with its uniquely integrated patient care, research and training it offers an ideal environment for elevating talented pediatric oncology professionals to higher levels as experts and leaders in their field. Pediatricians in training, pediatric oncologists, psychologists, pediatric surgeons, nurses and other specialists are offered a tailor-made training program provided by the Máxima. However, only very gifted professionals, from the Netherlands and abroad, are eligible for this program lasting up to 5 years.

The following profiles apply (to pediatric oncologists, but also to other specialists such as surgical specialists, radiotherapists, neurologists and pathologists):

 

  1. Aspiring pediatric oncologists
    1. with PhD: clinical fellowship with postdoctoral research
    2. without PhD: clinical fellowship with doctoral research
  2. Pediatric oncologists:
    1. with PhD: Junior pediatric oncologist who will set up own research group
    2. without PhD: Junior pediatric oncologist with doctoral research

 

Fellows who do not speak Dutch will receive compulsory education in the Dutch language at the start of their fellowship, so that they can and may function in patient care within the Netherlands. This will be for a period of one year, during which time the fellow will do research and observe in healthcare.

If you are selected, one or more job interviews will follow with (a delegation of) a committee consisting of the Clinical Directors, Managing Director Care, fellow trainers and CMO.
